Sneaker Collector’s Miami Dolphins Man Cave Is Perfect For Pups
It can be tough when loved ones root for different professional sports franchises. It is one of the many occasions when a man cave comes in handy. Miami Dolphins fan Jason Ali watches his team in peace while his girlfriend watches the Jacksonville Jaguars elsewhere in the house. At least she’s not a fan of AFC East rival the New England Patriots. Oddly enough, their Orlando home is closer to a third NFL franchise — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Like many man caves, Ali’s serves several purposes. He stores his sneaker collection, watches his beloved Dolphins, plays video games, and dabbles in DJ’ing all in his man cave.
With team colors on the walls and an officially licensed bag big enough to seat all three dogs, this man cave is first and foremost a Miami Dolphins man cave. For Ali, the fandom has been a lifelong thing. “I’ve been a fan since I was around four years old, according to my parents,” he said. “Who knows what my 4 year old brain thought? I probably just liked the colors. But I stuck with it. I'm too invested at this point to give up.”
The dogs may just be invested in their owner and that comfy bean bag. They’re probably hoping for table scraps, too.
While the Dolphins game is on or during gaming sessions on an XBox Series X or a Playstation 5, Ali’s sneaker collection is directly to his left. And it is pretty impressive!
“I've always had an affinity for sneakers,” he said. “I did chores as a kid to buy my first $100 pair of sneakers because my parents — rightfully so — refused. I had seen a lot of different people on social media that had sneaker rooms or closets, and I wanted to incorporate it as part of my man cave to show another of my interests. It's an attention grabber. It's probably more sneakers at one time than the average person goes through in a decade. The storage is for 100 pairs. I'm at 93 pairs right now but reserving space for a few specific pairs that I still want.”
Ali’s man cave is exactly what he wants right now, and he can’t imagine drastic changes in the near future.
“I'd say I'm 98% done. I don't know that I'll ever hit 100% completion as I'm always tweaking something small. But the majority of it is complete. I think I may need to add something Ace Ventura related since it's Miami Dolphins themed and all. And maybe a small mini fridge for some drinks.”
When it comes to your man cave, Ali has this advice, “It's your space. Fill it with the things that make you happy.”
Clearly, he’s taken his own advice. Now, if Tua Tagovailoa can connect on some deep passes to Tyreek Hill this year, Jason Ali’s man cave will be a very happy place on Sundays this fall.
